The only rock I know that stays steady, the only institution I know that works, is the family." -Lee Iacocca
As China declared a "people's war" against the threat of corona-virus, it set, in the words of WHO Director-General Tedros Ghrebeyessus, an unparalleled "new standard" in the fight of the entire mankind against this and all other global health threats.
The new norm is summed up in the word "lock-down" or "self-quarantine" on many cities and provinces globally to prevent the spread of the virus, thereby protecting the rest of the world, as well as the planet, from the scourge. Not only the rate of epidemics and patterns of transmission jeopardises our sense of agency, but the safety policies put in place to contain the spread of the virus also require social distancing by refraining to do what is inherently human, which is to find solace in the company of others. In this context of physical threat, social and physical distance, as well as public alarm, what has been (and can be) the role of the various media channels in our lives at the individual, social and societal level? This global pandemic may have affected the way of life for some, but for HDA leaders and staff, the emergency in public health does not discourage them from socialising with others as the HDA observes virtual interaction.
Despite the cancellations and discontinuation of activities like graduations, classes, and travel plans, HDA members have opted to play in their homes and engage in events that enhance the bonds of the agency as a family in accordance with the guidelines set by the HDA leaderships.
HDA has brought us all together during this time of crisis and what better way to celebrate our solidarity and unity than having fun? So I asked around about what activities helped our relationships become stronger.
Aside from this, as people with significant others spend more time in different spaces during the quarantine, it’s not shocking that tensions may rise between both parties. Anxiety about what the other person is doing, disrupted routines, lack of social connections, and struggles to be productive in the house may result in couples venting out their frustrations on one another. So I asked HDA members who have relationships and what measures they have done to strengthen their relationships.
For estquinn8, her relationship with her significant other has been going pretty well.
"I think at first, it is not HDA that strengthens our relationship, because we have other means of communication we can use. But somehow, when he became a Director, I think we spend more time in HDA now because he needs to finish his duties and other stuff in base. Then, as we spent more time in HDA, I started motivating him and encouraging him with his daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. This has been a catalyst for us to understand each other better."
As for me, brendunurie, I have no significant other (shocker). But I have tips for those who are struggling with relationships with themselves.
3. Do not worry if you don't feel you did your best today; if the things you did weren't groundbreaking; and the decisions that you've made aren't life-changing. You are still preserving your journey. You are still growing; you are still making progress.
4. How you feel is not who you are. You are not ugly even if you feel like you are. 5. The waves in your heart are stronger than the noise in your head telling you you're not enough.
Probably the last thing you want to see is something about the pandemic. But it's important to let yourself feel things. Cancellations are sad, online classes are draining, or everything you were counting on seems up in the air. It's okay to feel sad and anxious. This is hard and no one has experienced something like this before. Know that you are not alone in your feelings, and this is a good opportunity to check on your friends in HDA and refresh your hope-finding skills by playing games such as Habbo.
It won't be this way forever. HDA is here with you. Hold tight. Blog Post Written by Brendunurie

The Internal Affairs team is a very elite team within the HDA, who are responsible for the maintenance of peace and discipline within the Habbo Defence Agency. These members are usually chosen through applications which are released every month by the Director of Internal Affairs and their leadership. You must be Management+ in order to apply for Internal Affairs. If you are not already in the Moderation rank, then you must go through a trial for 7 days along with a report for the same, completing some tasks presented to them, in order to be a fully fledged Internal Affairs Officer. MoD members can be IA Badge Holders, that is that they can do things which the IA can, however are not members of the Internal Affairs directly. For more information, please click here.
An official IA member, you will also have a bi-weekly report to do, which is not very difficult. An official IA member also gains the ability to log online time points as mentioned before. In both Trial IA and official IA, one must help Junior Executive members to get their pay badges, as this is a task of the Internal Affairs. You can also get Pay Badge Admin from IA, however you must do your best to earn the trust of your Director and the Director of Financial Affairs to get it. As an IA member, one is never free to be irresponsible, you must always stay on guard and ensure you do your best at whatever you are doing, because you are expected to be a role model to everyone watching. For this reason, IA members have also got a few reasons to be striked and demoted and so you know, no one gets away. With privileges, come responsibility too and that's a must to remember. Internal Affair Members (after passing the trial) have all badges upto ADM. However, if one fails their trial, you return to their old rank before being selected for Trial IA from applications.
Interview with the Director of Internal Affairs - Sans38
1. As the Director of Internal Affairs, what do you feel is the most basic thing a person within HDA must know about in terms of Internal Affairs?
Answer: Well the most basic thing for a member in HDA to know is obviously the whole code of conduct, but more specifically the whole of the official rules & Promo guide are VERY important just because right now there's a lot of members joining and the official rules and promo guide are very important for them 2. In the IA Applications, what is it that you most look for in a potential future Internal Affairs member? Answer: Well normally when we are selecting people through our applications, Firstly, we would look if they really do understand what to do in the situational questions we have presented in the application. Then, we would look at their past activity and actually check if they seem to have potential being an IA member! We'd also make sure if they haven't received any disciplinary actions or complaints just to be a hundred percent sure of them! 3. What would you like every IA member to go through which you have gone through but do not think a lot of IA members go through? Answer: Well there's a lot of aspects of being an IA member, Well long ago when jujubo was our DoIA I was able to handle a double jobbing case (which is not very rare). It really helped me understand how we handled these types of cases and how IA really worked. The present IA members would have a rather less chance of handling these types of cases nowadays 4. As you know, recently your Head of IA got promoted, what are some things you want to see in your IA Leadership, that would be good for you as the Director? Answer: Well when I was HoIA I made a LOT of mistakes and after a long time I realized that being in IA leadership is really easy if you do the job right. Being an IA leader, you just need to be unbiased, helpful, and approachable. If any member has these features, I believe they would make a great HoIA/CoIA
Interview with an Official IA Member - xGLAD
1. As an IA Officer, what do you feel has made you a suitable person for the role of Internal Affairs?
Answer: I feel that I'm active in base, so that I'm able to help out anyone in base most of the time. I also know the Code of conduct quite well so when people ask me a question about HDA, I can answer them. 2. How did you feel when you passed your IA trial and how did it change you as a worker within the HDA? Answer: I feel that I can finally help out people in base. As Help desk gets ignore sometimes and i feel bad for them 3. What do you feel must ideally be the greatest objective of an IA member? Answer: Be responsible for works and try our best to serve HDA better 4. What are some features that you would like to see among your colleagues in IA? Answer: hmm... someone who have team work & trustworthy
Hey HDA, for those who are not aware of HDAâs past, we have had a pretty bumpy ride. A lot has changed in close to 4 years, from members, ranks, rules and most of all our bases and rooms. Today's blog post is going to be all about HDA âthen and nowâ edition.
HDA first opened on 16th of August 2016, originally founded by EmzyWah, Rianna and Kirst(some of you may remember her). Kirst however was banished from the land for a few years. Thatâs some tea for another time tho.
HDA's first founders:
Kirst, Rianna, EmzyWah, Natasha
(your OG mamis still here emzy and ria rep rep) HDAâs first ever base designed by Emzy, Ria and Kirst:
HDAâs first base was a big learning experience, when we actually made the first base we forgot to even include an events area, and we also had 1 training and sec station. Which you could imagine was a fun time.
Here are some other baseâs we have had over the years:
HDAâs 2nd base designed by Rianna:
HDAâs 3rd base designed by monkeysbackside, built by emzywah:
HDAâs 4th base designed by Blake:
HDAâs 5th base designed by EmzyWah & Cerys:
Random backup base designed by EmzyWah:
HDA base designed by Vibrational/Brendon (we had some bases before this but couldnât find full base pictures):
HDA base (number who knows) designed by Emzy, Magen, Cerys, Brendon:
As you can see we finally came to our senses and stopped using creaky floors in base!!! Not sure what we were thinking then, but thank god we stopped. Now time to have a peak at some of the other rooms of HDA that has thankfully changed over time.
â âHDAâs first ever training room:
First All ranks meeting room (brace yourself it was a mess):
Old training/division/meeting rooms:
Okay there we go, some major throwbacks to celebrate HDA! Hope you all enjoyed my blog post. Let me know what bases you guys liked the most.
